At the beginning I was a painter. But painting was too slow for pinning down my constantly running thoughts, and therefore I had to change medium. I started with the “Vorräume” (Entrance Halls) to experiment with other possible ways of expressing myself. Sometimes over and over again until I felt sure that it was or was not what I was looking for … or if the feeling prevailed. At times I invited people to hear their opinions, at other times I just wanted to be alone with mine.
The “Entrance Hall” was a tremendously important step which led me from painting to where I am now.
The name was programm, as it was not only supposed to be an entrance hall to something for me at that point yet unknown, but it was actually situated in an entrance hall. 6 doors depart from there. 6 directions. A dice has 6 faces … The entrance hall was my personal dice. And I was hoping for the right number.
As important as this long term project (2003-2006) was for me as a link between past and future, I have deleted the links to all Vorräume, that do not have to do directly with what I do now.
