Some projects are to move over from DARK to LIGHT, which always happens when I start including other things than photography into the main project.
I am also quite annoyed by the way things are looking here. Chaotic is the first word that comes to me. And that is not really how I am. So I will invest some time into changing what has grown wild into something more ME. Especially because I am getting more into publications now.

First of all I came up with a logo. And now I will redesign the books according to the Wallpaper book you see above. I hope you like it.

The reason is a complete redefinition of the means and aim of this site, pushing it from a complementary playground to a serious part-of-the-game. So it will take a while and I hope you do not mind the chaos (even on the DARK side this time).

At the end I will provide some free access general information and sample pictures for all the projects. The in depth information, which I will be adding to the page, will remain under password-protection for working purposes with galleries and exhibition places. I hope for your understanding at this point, especially on LIGHT, where more pages will stay under protection.

I will be adding enough free-access material in the future, to avoid this website to become boring for the rest of the visitors, including some projects, where I will really need your assistance and participation.

Please feel free to give me your oppinion any time.

Kursk II will be out there in different faces … lamenting facts … reminding … collecting time.

Now that the exhibition is over, I would like to share some impressions with all of you. It was not very easy to make pictures of it, but I think I found a good solution to give you the look&feel.

Due to exciting “unforseeable circumstances” there now emerged some documentary projects very dear to me, that do not quite go together with the rest of my work. I am thus splitting the website, presenting my more artistic work on the “light”-layout and the documentation-projects on the “dark”-layout. “Light” and “Dark” therefore primary naming the Layout, but of course … there are other possible interpretations.

I will be adding more information after the splitting is completed. Stay tuned!

The image above is a screenshot taken from the video shown at my current exhibition in Frankfurt. It includes some of the images from my original Kursk-Project. You can see it online here.

These images are NOT edited. The look&feel is the result of a broken tv-set combined with file-type changes for the video-format. It was a conscious decision not to correct the colours but to leave them as given.

This is a quiet an humble hommage to one of my favorite artists: Hiroshi Sugimoto.

This picture was not taken from high above, like he usually does it, but just from a ferry while crossing the Channel, therefore it does not contain as much detail. But I hope one gets the idea.

You might have wondered why I keep talking about the possibility of buying books on my site and then, at the same time, I fail to provide the necessary prices to activate the shop. It is all there, isn’t it? Yes. And no.

It has two reasons. No. It has THREE reasons. First of all the prices for these books on demand are extremely high. I paid over 100 EUR to get one of the “Portraying Kenya +” Demo-Books done for me! So when I add the charity-part it will not get cheaper and, in fact, I am hating the charity-part being the smallest part. But I cannot really help it at the present time.

Hence I decided to compress the books: I will take some pages out and rearrange the rest to make all of it more intensive and affordable. Some of the books originally were made as fotoalbums for me, to test the prints, so I put more images in than I would have done for a book I would want to give away. A little compression will not harm, on the contrary. Apart from this I want to add some more black-and-white images. Probably in separate books, though.

Now here comes the third reason: I ran out of time in 2007. So despite of Christmas being around the corner and people asking me to finally come up with the book-prices … It will have to ask you to give me some more time for this task. I am terribly sorry about this! It is not that I have not done my homework in projectmanagement, but some things came up that I did not forsee. Good things. Chances. So I slipped some new (and pressing) projects in and I hope you will forgive me for the book-delay once you see the results.

The books will be ready for Christmas 2008. Promised. Much earlier, I hope.

And if I think about it, I might in fact have forgotten the most important part of a good projectmanagement: to leave room for the unforseen. Chances usually do not make appointments, and they are so terribly reluctant to return once you let them go.
